Percentage change formula

Percentage change is (new - original) ÷ original × 100. A change from 80 to 100 is 20 ÷ 80 = 25%. A negative result indicates a decrease.

The original value must be non-zero. For a simple check, use the percentage increase calculator; it also handles decreases with a negative result.
